Show Notes

Veteran talk show host Leonard Lopate is returning to the airwaves with a new radio project Leonard Lopate at Large … lively hour-long, in-depth discussions that will provide overview and context to topics usually covered in partial measures. His guests will include leading thinkers, scientists, artists, economists, farmers, historians, authors, and politicians.

Mr. Lopate is a Peabody Award winner whose numerous honors include three Associated Press Awards and three James Beard Awards. He has over forty years experience as a talk show host on New York public radio stations.

Leonard Lopate at Large is a collaboration between Robin Hood Radio  (the smallest NPR station in the nation)  in Sharon, Connecticut and WPWL, the Pawling Public Radio FM station in Dutchess County, New York.

Launching May 26, 2018, the first show will feature a discussion about the ecological interactions between plants and wildlife and the importance of sustaining native plants. Guests will be Douglas W. Tallamy, professor and chair of the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware (author of “Bringing Nature Home”) and Peter Muroski, owner of Native Landscapes in Pawling, New York.

On June 2, the topic will be the complex and often troubled history of the Environmental Protection Agency with Robert Hargrove, former director of the agency’s National Environmental Protection Compliance Division and David Vetter, an archaeologist who serves as a contractor for the EPA’s national historic preservation program.

Leonard Lopate at Large will be broadcast live on on the Robin Hood Radio network (AM 1020 WHDD FM 91.9, WBSL-FM 91.7, WLHV-FM 88.1 and soon on 97.5 FM) Tuesday afternoons from 12:00 to 1:00 PM and Saturday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 PM.
